Kendrick Lamar's anticipated film project with the creators of South Park has been put on hold indefinitely.
Trey Parker and Matt Stone confirmed that the musical comedy, titled Whitney Springs, will no longer move forward on its planned release schedule, citing commitments to South Park and other circumstances. The pair apologised to Kendrick's pgLang company and Paramount for the delay but said they still believe in the project.
The film, which reportedly carries a budget of more than 100 million dollars, centres on the subject of slavery reparations. Kendrick and his pgLang partner Dave Free are among its producers, with the rapper also contributing previously unreleased music to the soundtrack.
The project was originally scheduled for release in July 2025 before being pushed to March 2026 and later removed from Paramount's release calendar. No new release date has been announced.
