Masicka Sued In US Federal Court Over Copyright Claims On Four Songs

September 08, 2026

Dancehall heavyweight Masicka is facing a federal copyright-infringement lawsuit filed in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia by plaintiff Melissa Mais.

The lawsuit marks a formal escalation of a dispute that surfaced earlier this year when four of Masicka's popular tracks, including "Whites," "Rich Sex," "Mute," and "Scope" were taken down from his official YouTube channel following Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) notices.

Mais alleges that she wrote the underlying material in May 2023 and that it was subsequently released without her authorization or proper compensation. Masicka, whose given name is Javaun Nicholas Fearon has flatly denied the claims, stating through his team that every track released under his name was written solely by him and properly distributed.
