Guyana Amazon Warriors have defeated the Barbados Tridents for the first time in Women’s Caribbean Premier League history, securing a five-wicket victory at Kensington Oval.
Chasing 159, the Warriors reached 159 for five with an over to spare, completing the highest successful run chase of this season’s tournament. Player of the Match Tazmin Brits led the way with 46, while Shermaine Campbelle added 36.
Earlier, defending champions Barbados posted 158 for seven, with captain Hayley Matthews scoring a season-best 50. Kiran Navgire contributed 38, while Suzie Bates provided a late boost with an unbeaten 22 from just 11 deliveries.
Sheneta Grimmond was the pick of the Warriors’ bowlers with three wickets for 21 runs, while Erin Burns claimed two for 19.
Despite the result, both teams have advanced to the playoffs and will meet again on Wednesday at Kensington Oval. The winner will face the Trinbago Knight Riders in the final, while the Jamaica Empress have been eliminated.
