Janet Jackson to Bring Control 40th Anniversary Concert to the Big Screen

September 06, 2026

Janet Jackson is celebrating the 40th anniversary of her breakthrough album Control in a major way, with a special anniversary concert set to be filmed for a theatrical release.

Jackson announced the news on social media, revealing that the concert will take place on December 12 at the Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Florida.

The five-time Grammy winner says the show will feature new costumes, special performances and a glimpse into the making of Control, with every song from the landmark album getting its moment during the celebration.

Released in 1986, Control helped transform Jackson into a global superstar and produced some of her most memorable hits, including “Nasty,” “What Have You Done for Me Lately,” “When I Think of You,” “Control” and “The Pleasure Principle.”

Jackson says filming the concert will allow the special night to be remembered for years to come, although details on when the movie will hit theaters have not yet been announced.

The anniversary celebration continues Jackson's recent look back at her career. In 2022, she also opened up about her life, music and personal relationships in the four-part documentary series Janet Jackson.
