Manchester United have been knocked out of the English League Cup after surrendering a two-goal lead in a 3-2 defeat to Brighton at Old Trafford.

The loss was United’s third defeat of the season and their second in succession following Sunday’s loss to Manchester City.

It also marks the second straight season United have been eliminated from the League Cup at their earliest stage, following last year’s defeat to fourth-tier Grimsby.
