Colin Kaepernick has revisited his criticism of Jay-Z’s 2019 partnership with the NFL while promoting his new memoir, The Perilous Fight.

Kaepernick says he believes the league’s deal with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation was intended, at least in part, to ease criticism surrounding its handling of player protests against racial injustice.

Jay-Z had publicly supported Kaepernick before entering the partnership with the NFL.

Kaepernick also responded to Jay-Z recently mentioning him during a freestyle, saying he was surprised to still be part of the conversation seven years after the Roc Nation deal.
